Study Structure
You will follow a three-layer recall structure, adjusted for pre-nursing readiness:
Layer 1: Foundational Recall (≈80% review / 20% light application)
Purpose: Orientation and understanding
Guided lecture review
Structured outlines or guided notes
Concept maps (big picture only)
Drug or condition groupings
Intentional reading (key ideas only)
Summaries in her own words
🚫 No practice-question marathons at this stage.
Layer 2: Active Recall (≈50% recall / 50% processing)
Purpose: Strengthen memory and identify weak spots
Blurting
Teach-back out loud
Whiteboard recall (no notes)
Explain concepts as if to a patient
Compare similar concepts
Mini-outlines from memory
Layer 3: Deep Recall (≈70–90% application, lighter than in-program students)
Purpose: Build judgment without grade pressure
Entry-level NCLEX-style safety questions
Scenario-based prompts
Reflection-heavy review:
What felt unclear?
What assumption was made?
What information was missing?
Time Rules (Non-Negotiable)
Study sessions: 60–90 minutes max
Consistency > intensity
No more than 2 focused hours per class/day
Mandatory 1-hour break after 2 hours
No content, videos, or questions during breaks
This structure protects memory consolidation and prevents early burnout.
Notes/Adjustments
This plan intentionally builds judgment before grades exist to avoid overwhelm later.
Application is lighter than students already in nursing school.
Reflection is emphasized over score performance.
As January approaches, application intensity will gradually increase.
Adjustments will be made based on confidence, consistency, and observed thinking patterns.
The goal is for nursing school to feel familiar, not foreign.
